hilaryhughes:

Last month while in LA, I spent an afternoon driving around West Hollywood and Laurel Canyon with Nikki Lane, the brash, blue-eyed truth-slinger of Nashville draped in vintage denim and stick-n’-pokes. Coincidentally, my favorite shop on Melrose, Chuck’s Vintage, is also one of Nikki’s, and she’s dear old friends with the owner, Madeline. We hung out at Chuck’s for an hour or two, working our way through Madeline’s stack of disintegrating Harley tees (that’s where I pick them up every time I head west), eating Brazilian takeout and talking about legacies, records and boys.
It was AWESOME, and her new record, All Or Nothin'—which was produced and co-written by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys—is just as rad. Here's the profile I wrote on Nikki for Paste. Go give “Love’s On Fire" a listen and tell me you don’t want to be in Nashville like yesterday, I dare you.

americansongwriter:

Daniel Romano, a country singer and visual artist hailing from way up north in Toronto, stopped by American Songwriter before his  Nashville show and played a few tunes for us. Romano recently signed with Normaltown Records, a new imprint label of New West Records that is based in Athens, Georgia.

This troubadour’s tunes tilt toward the dark side of country, with nods to George Jones and Lee Hazelwood. Watch the video below of “A New Love (Can Be Found).”

Audio recorded and mixed by Steve Martin. Video shot and edited by Ian Maravalli.
